I have taken two different vehicles here from smog checks and both times went OK and both cars passed. You can expect to pay more than the quoted online price of 30 dollars for the smog due to an unlisted certification fee or something but it's still a good price. Also if your car is over 5,000 lbs it costs more. The workers and mechanics are nice and seem honest. I have been happy with my experiences here and will go back next time I need a smog check.

The staff is very friendly, they do good work, and they have very reasonable prices. My low tire pressure indicator light on my 2010 Honda Fit went off yesterday. When I got off at 5:30p.m. today, every place was closed. I googled some places in my phone and called Speedy. When I called, it was 6:12p.m., but I asked what time they were open until. Dany said 6p.m. I said, ok, thanks, but he said, it's okay. What's going on? I told him and he invited me to the shop to take a look. Fantastic service, letting me come by even after the shop was closed. When I got there, Dany took a look and found a big fat nail in my back tire. He said it could not be repaired, only replaced. The inspection was FREE. He looked, but could not find a tire in the shop, so they ordered one and told me to come by tomorrow to have it put on. Total cost: $89.00 (with labor and tax). That's a terrific price. I've had the work on my car done at the Honda dealership thus far because I couldn't find a mechanic I trusted. I always feel nickel and dimed. When my front tire exploded two years ago, my trip to Honda was almost $250.00. I've also had work done at Sears, and this is cheaper. I won't be going back to Honda or Sears again. My quote for an oil change was $24.00. My quote to change my filter was $14.98 because I wouldn't be charged for labor. I was so happy with my experience that I came back and wrote a review immediately. I was surprised to see that they were rated so low on yelp, but then again, most of the bad reviews are for smog checks. I don't know anything about that. My experience was fantastic, and they will have a repeat customer in me. Yay for small business!

My husband and I always bring our cars here to have work done, and we have always been happy with the results. Last week, I brought my car in to have the power steering fixed, and the guys at Speedys called GMC to check on the status of a recall. They could have charged me hundreds of dollars to fix the problem. Instead, they told me to take it to the dealership, where it was fixed for free under warranty. I appreciate their honesty and will go back again.

So My 1999 Nissan would not pass smog...I was referred to Speedy Auto by a friend..They probably could have sold me on a lot but were honest and did what they had to do to make me pass..I passed smog and all is good now....The owner also put a a missing bolt in my driver seat at no extra charge..For all out there I would say you can trust them with a smog fix ....Adam L

I was instantly impressed by their customer service when I called in. Danny was extremely polite on the phone and gave me great pricing on the services I needed (smog and oil change). For an oil change and smog check, I spent just a little more than what other garages charge for an oil change alone. When I pulled in, I was instantly greeted and told where to go. They estimated 45 minutes for everything, and were done in 30. They charged me exactly what was quoted on the phone, and I didn't have to put up with anyone trying to up-sell me on things I don't really need. I will definitely be returning to Speedy Auto and telling my friends about it too. They are honest, friendly, and do great work.

I have been saved by Raad & Speedy Auto twice now & I will continue to support this family business in the future. Both times I was treated like a person, not just a customer. I have found them to be trustworthy, they do good work, and they have been gracious to me in unexpected ways. To give an example, I first came here because my car had failed smog twice at another shop & I was planning to get a tune-up before trying again there. The mechanics at Speedy showed me that the other shop had been scamming me & proceeded to give me discounts on the smog workup as well as some new tires. They've definitely earned my customer loyalty.

I'm a Point Loma resident and have recommended Speedy Auto to my many friends. Just had my '89 Toyota smog cert. today. Passed with no problems because my cars are maintained properly. I have never had a problem with my four cars over the past five years. All serviced by SPR&S. Just a reminder note: Why does the state of California require periodic smog checks? Because cars do not comply with state emissions standards. This means that certain parts may need to be replaced. If you have a problem refer to another shop. These folks have been in business for quite awhile. All smog tests for me have taken 30 minutes. I have had engine work done, with no problems. Upon your return they have your records on file. Build a positive relationship, realize that some times (honestly) they will tell you that your car has a problem. You probably will have a negative response. Make them show you the results and return your used parts. They want your return business.

I had to take my new/used car here to get a smog check before I registered it..a bit worried at first after reading so many negative reviews. After pulling up and waiting for maybe 3 minutes Dan finally came into the guest waiting room and asked what I needed assistance with, told him that I needed a smog, he was super friendly, and courteous. His father was the one who tested my vehicle, literally it felt like 5 minutes and they were done, it was that fast! The father came back with great, and not so great news, first not so great news was that fact my car failed the first test, though he wanted to retest it just in case, and it passed the second time barely. I paid Dan my $39.00 for the smog while my mother talked to the father, they were extremely friendly caring people who take pride in their work it seems. For those of you who are writing horrible reviews, think twice. Just because you cannot afford a new gas cap, or even afford the work it takes to fix your hoop-dee's. Doesn't mean you need to come down on hard working people. I wont lie, at first I felt uneasy as I am sure most would letting someone else in their vehicle and to hook it up to a machine, its a bit nerve racking, but just because you failed, or you had a unpleasant experience because you are out of control or frankly, probably just crazy, doesn't mean you need to take it out on hard working people. Not satisfied? Take your car somewhere else than!

2013, and I still will never take my SUV anywhere else. A while back, I cheaped out and went to one of those 'Car Wash and Oil Change' gigs because it was way closer to my house (and my car was dirty) and they stripped the bolt in my oil pan (and did a wimpy wash! See separate review). This caused it to sputter oil all over the bottom of my car and trash my driveway. They have been doing temporary fixes for me for a long time now, doing their best to seal up the leak as I have been having a hard time financially and couldn't afford to fix it yet but was driving a lot and needed frequent oil changes. They did everything they could to save me money and help me out. Finally I could afford to get it fixed and took it in today. Most places would take 4-5 hours or more to do that job. They knew I dropped my car off and had walked to the gym, so they gave it priority and called me back in 2 hours. They are SO wonderful here, and the fact that it is a family-owned small business (owned by the nicest family you will ever meet) makes so much difference. I have had such horrible experiences in the past being taken advantage of by mechanic shops because I knew virtually nothing about cars. They have never done anything but treat me honestly and genuinely look out for my best interest. That is almost impossible to find these days, and I feel very blessed to have found them. They also give a 2% discount for paying in cash! Awesome :)

Took my car for SMOG here today, called got a price on the phone decided to go because not many places are open on the weekends. Staff was very friendly didn't take long at at all. Price was reasonable due to the age of my car. I don't believe these guys are scammers everything was done quickly and i passed the smog. I'd go here again if i needed to.
