Pretty good little place. I don't know much about smog testing (I'm from florida) but their price on it seems standard from what I got around the area. Good pricing on their oil changes, quick service. I'd go here again if I have a problem or just need some routine maintenance done. I haven't shopped around much because I was under a time constraint to get a smog and oil change done, but always look before you commit.

3.5 stars. A pretty cheap place if you can find an online coupon. The staff was polite and got the job done reasonably quick. That being said the waiting room is tiny and parking is a bitch. When I was done I noticed there was some grease left on my steering wheel, I mentioned it and the guy ran right over and did a really thorough job cleaning it/apologized. I would probably go elsewhere for service but a decent choice for smog especially if you know you are going to pass.

I was referred to this shop by the Jiffy Lube next door, since during routine maintenance they noticed that one of my tires was damaged and needed to be replaced. The man at Speedy Auto Repair who helped me was a nice guy and did a good job of explaining what was wrong, what was needed to fix it (which unfortunately ended up being more than just a new tire - I needed two new tires and an alignment), and why that was necessary. I will be the first to admit that I don't know much about cars, but I didn't get the sense that they were trying to sell me anything unnecessary or take advantage of my general automotive ignorance. My only complaint was the wait time. I was a walk-in (drive-in?), but once they assessed what needed to be done the guy told me it would take 30-40 minutes. I ended up waiting an hour, which was annoying, but I guess I'd rather them be thorough than rushed. Overall, I would come back.

Went in today to get a smog check after seeing their $25 off coupon. While smogging my car they said I "needed" a new gas cap to pass smog...not sure exactly how that works but that made my total around $60, which was a lot more pricey than I had hoped since I had $25 off. Also, after the smog they did not send my copy of the passing certificate to the DMV which it states on the paper they do. Disappointing since my registration is due tomorrow and is another hassle to deal with. Overall, it was an ok experience and the staff seemed nice but I won't be going out of my way to get my car serviced there again, San Diego is huge & I am sure there is a place with a better bang for your buck.

Today was my second time here at Speedy Auto Repair & Smog. Both times were for emergent issues and both times the team has been very responsive and available (they are aptly named)! Sam and his dad are very knowledgeable and passionate about their work - you can sense the pride in knowledge and workmanship and it shows, too. They do a good job of explaining what needs to be done to fix your car, showing you exactly what they're seeing and explaining what they're thinking. I noticed that my gas was leaking oil yesterday evening in Orange County. Today, back here in San Diego, I called Speedy, and they told me to bring in my car whenever I could. I brought my car in around 1:30 and within 15 minutes they had identified the source of the oil leak and also pinpointed another leak (coolant leak under the hood, which they showed to me). It took another hour and some change and they had changed my oil, replaced the washer on one of the openings on the oil pan and replaced a radiator hose. The original estimate was about $130, and the total cost ended up being $170. I appreciate that these guys show you the problem as they see it and then explain exactly what they're going to do. And I'm very grateful that they're able to be available on such short notice. I would recommend them and after two good experiences, they are my mechanic of choice. 4 stars out of 5 because I don't know enough about cars to give an unreserved 5.

These guys are awesome. Raad and Sam know their stuff. Trustworthy and flexible. :) Will not settle for any other mechanic!

Thank goodness these guys were open on a Sunday unlike most auto shops. They explained and showed me what went wrong with my vehicle. Very understanding and honest guys. So far I would say they're great!

I took my 2005 Honda CRV to Speedy Auto Repair today for a smog cert. The employees are extremely nice, there was no wait, and the price was the best I could find in San Diego. Highly recommended!!!

Great service. I had a check engine light on and was referred to Speedy by the Jiffy guys in front. It was a great experience. Everyone who worked there was friendly and took care of my problem that day even though I came in the late afternoon. Excellent service & I haven't had an engine problem since. I will definitely be using their services again.
